Myatt Murphy started his career in mainstream
women’s journalism writing for Conde Nast back in 1994, creating 6-8 page
features for one of the top magazines in women’s publishing at that time, Self
magazine. Since that time, he’s written for nearly every top women’s magazine
over the past decade, working personally by request for many of the top editors
in the industry. His partial list of international women’s magazine clients has
included:
Bride's, Cosmopolitan, Fitness,
Glamour,
Health, Redbook, Self, Shape, Sports Illustrated for Women,
The Knot, The Nest and Weight Watchers Magazine.
His ability to match any magazine voice has allowed Murphy to write on nearly
every topic, including exercise and health, sex and relationships, celebrity
profiles, first-person humor, gear, nutrition, travel and general service. Many
of his 220+ women’s-related features, departments and editorials have
been published internationally in over 26 countries, including Germany,
Spain, Brazil, Africa, Japan, Great Britain and Australia. Just a handful of
career highlights in the women’s market:
After
writing dozens and dozens of first-person humor/relationship for Glamour,
Cosmopolitan, Brides and Maxim, Murphy is one of the few relationship writers
asked to give relationship advice as “Jake” (the fictitious sex/relationship expert in Glamour
magazine that only a handful of writers have written as in the
past 15 years.)
For
two years straight, Murphy served as the executive editor for Self magazine’s
Gear Guide, their annual 24-page product round-up which features hundreds of
the top names in the sporting goods industry, including Nike, Reebok,
Adidas, Champion, PowerBar, New Balance, Saucony, Asics, Timberland, Hind, L.
L. Bean, Danskin and Spalding.
Murphy
has been offered deputy editor to executive editor positions at some of the
leading women’s magazines produced by the following publishers: Hearst, Conde
Nast and Time Inc.
Murphy is frequently used to create advertorial-editorial packages and as an idea/coverline consultant, with former women’s magazine clients including Glamour and Self.
